MBCT MEDI-CARE ACTIVITIES IN 2008
11th Medical Camp (Rotational Select Specialty) [Saturday
27th July 2008']

STATISTICAL DATA:
i) Patients from 66 villages: 128 OPDs (Children: 67 | Woman: 61)
ii) Cumulative to Date: 11,501 (Operations: 781 | OPD: 10,720)
Matter:
During our Rotational Camps: We cover following limited specialties OPD, Once every month
at the Medical camp held every Last Sunday of the month, and these are:
- Woman & Child,
- Skin, Orthopedic & Dental, Heart, Endocrinology & Kidney.
MBCT ensures that specialists DOCTORS remain the same for each
rotational specialty camp.
TRUST provides the medicine Free, for a minimum period of One week and
do increase it to four week depending upon additional prescription by the Specialist
Doctor.
We also register for OPD, by visiting each village, of the 128 (Now
increased to 132.) by covering half the numbers in one go. Revisit patients are welcome
from all the villages, as they do not need re-registration.
SPECIAL NEWS OF THIS CAMP:
PANCH
Darshan Kaur of village Ferozepore FGS accompanied 19 persons (16 Gynae & 3 Child
cases) of her village. After their medical check up, Sh. Ajay Malhotra, Manager Programs
showed them around various facilities available for TRAINING asper "MBCT's Rural
Youth Skill Upgradation & Women Empowerment Projects".
Mrs. Harbinder Social worker depot holder GRANGAN ( Mohali Dist.)
brought with her 25 persons of her village ( 14 Gynae & 11 Child cases). They were
very keen to see the Training Center created under MBCT Rural Yout Skill Upgradation
Program & Women Empowerment Project of MBCT FTP partnership. Sh. Onkar Singh showcased
the Computer & English Teaching Rooms, the Vocational Training Center etc. One lady
said though she wanted to come for Training, she had problem of where to leave her two
very small children, Sh. Onkar Singh informed her that the TRUST had CRESCHE facilities in
MHKCDC and she was welcome to get her two children admitted in the MBCT CRESCHE.
10th Multispeciality Medical
Checkup Camp (Cardiology-Endocrinology) [29th June, 2008]
The medical specialties
covered in the camp were Cardiology-Endocrinology & Nephrology. Dr.T P Singh MD, DM
Cardiology of Prime Heart Institute Mohali, Ms. Gagan Priya MD, DM Endocrinology of IVY
Hospital Mohali and Dr. Parampal Singh MD Nephrology DMC Ludhaina.
In all 378 patients were pre registered for the camp from 128 villages
of FGS district and Mohalla Behlolpura and Singhapura of Bassi Pathana. On the day of the
camp 231 pre registered people turned up for the OPD, out of which 114 were Cardiology
& Asthma patients, 77 were Diabetes patients and 20 were patients with Kidney &
Prostrate problems. There were several young children below the age of 8 who had heart
related problems and were diabetic, the doctors prescribed medicines which were
distributed free by the TRUST. 
These medical camps are held on a regular basis, with the basic idea
that a poor person who is suffering from a particular ailment can have access on a regular
basis of the BEST specialist FREE OF COST. MBCT holds the following camps on a rotational
basis on the last SUNDAY of every month, these are GROUPED as : 1.
Cardiology-Endocrinology-Nephrology 2. Gynecology-Pediatric 3. Skin-Orthopedic-Dental. The
Nephrology & Dental are the new categories which have been added upon popular demand.
Patients from the adjoining villages who had pre registered for this
camp started arriving at MHKCDC Bassi Pathana from 8am onwards, some of them were
accompanied by their
Sarpanches and village elders, notable among them were Mrs. Kulwinder Kaur Sarpanch Baag
Sikander, ex Sarpanch vill. Dhunda and Swaran Singh Sarpanch vill. Kheri Bhaike. Other
notable personalities who were present were Dr. Surjit Verma , Sh. Puneet Verma from
Public Laborotary Rajpura, Sh. Mahesh Gautam of Chandigarh Laborotary Basi Pathana who
carried out Urine Tests free of cost and Sh. Ram Charan of Kuldip Hospital of Bassi
Pathana who carried out ECG tests. Others who were present were Sh.Manmohan Singh Virdi
Architect, Sh. Hassan Singh Mejie Advisor MBCT, Sh. Amarishwar Singh Goraya Local
Representative MBCT and Dr. Swarn Singh Nirdoshi spokesperson MBCT.
9th Multispeciality Medical Checkup Camp (Orthopedic
& Skin) [25th May, 2008]
More than 280 persons
were pre registered from 128 villages adjoining Bassi Pathana FGS, this pre-registration
is carried out by MBCT's field workers visiting all the 128 villages, which begins with
all earnest in the first week of the month. Inspite of the inclemental weather and every
one busy with the Panchayat elections the attendance at the OPD was quite impressive. 195
persons attended the OPD on Sunday 25th May 2008 out of this 107 patients were for
Orthopedic related ailments and 88 patients were for Skin related diseases.
There were nearly 20% repeat patients who have attended MBCT Free
Medical Check Up Camp (Skin & Orthopedic) which were held earlier in the year. This is
a step towa rds the right
direction for the trust and the team of dedicated doctors whose objective is to provide on
a continuous basis the best medical consultancy to the poorest of the poor who are not
economically able to have access to good medical care. Free medicines were distributed by
MBCT as prescribed by the doctors.
The team of doctors led by Dr. Surjit Verma of Rajpura alongwith his team comprising of
Dr. A K Gulati MMBS MS (Orthopedic) of (R.K Gulati Memorial Hospital Rajpura), Dr. Umesh
Malhotra MBBS MS (orthopedic) of Sidhu Hospital Doraha and Dr. Dimple Chopra MD
(Dermatology), Assistant Sh. Bhajan Singh Rajpura and Sh. Puneet Verma. Sarpanches and
Panches of several villages attended the camp alongwith the needy patients from their
villages most regular and caring sarpanches who were present were Smt. Karamjit Kaur ex
Panch village Baag - Sikander and S. Kulwant singh ex sarpanch Vill.Salaar Majra.

The camp was inaugurated by Prof. Hardarshan Singh Mejie Patron MBCT , S. Alfred Singh
Mejie trustee MBCT UAE, S. Hassan Mejie Advisor MBCT, S. Amarishwar Singh Goraya local
representative MBCT, S. Manmohan Singh Virdi architect MBCT and S. Swaran Singh Nirdoshi
MBCT spokesperson who led the press team. A very dedicated team of volunteers From Bassi
Pathana led by Sh. Ramesh Pathak , Sh. J S Walia , Mrs. Varsha Walia, Mrs. Gurnam Kaur
Nirdoshi and MBCT staff / field workers led by Sh. Ajay Malhotra, Sh. Dayal Masih, Onkar
Singh and Dheeraj Bansal.
8th Multispeciality Medical Checkup
Camp [27th April, 2008]

(Paediatrics) & Dr. Manpreet Kaur MD (Gynaecolocy) of Sandhu Hospital Samshernagar
Sirhind have committed to provide free volunteer service for the medical camps being held
by MBCT.
415 patients were pre registered for this camp from 128 Villages adopted
by the trust to provide free medical aid to the BPL families on a continuous basis. Out of
these 221 were registered for gynaecolgy and 194 for Paediatrics. On Sunday 27th April a
total of 330 Patients attended the camp, 190 women and 140 children.
A special checkup was organised for the anaemic girl child age between
10 to 16. 44 girls were checked and 22 girls were found anaemic and free medicines were
dispensed.

students of MBCT play school age group 3 to 5 years were given a free medical checkup,
free medicines were given as prescribed by Dr. KPS Sandhu.
Volunteer service for the camp was provided by good samaritans of Bassi
Pathana namely Sh. Ramesh Pathak, Smt. Gurnam Kaur Nirdoshi, Sh. J S Walia &
Smt.Varsha Walia. Other persons present were Sh. Hassan Singh Mejie advisor MBCT, Sh.
Amarishwar Singh MBCT Sh. Manmohan Singh Virdi Architect MBCT and Sh. Swaran Singh
Nirdoshi spokesperson of the trust.

As in all such campaigns, MBCT provides it's facilities at MHK Community Development
Center Gurunanakpura Mohalla, Bassi Pathana to the Authorities to set up a Booth for
administering polio drops to the new borns of the area.
