EYE CAMP [18th March 2007 - 5th April 2007]
On 29-03-2007, 160 Nos. patients were selected for Phaco Laser operation and were operated upon by Dr. G.S. Randhawa of Patiala. This camp was organized by Mehar Baba Charitable Trust, Bassi Pathana. This is the Third Free Eye Check-up and Operation Camp in the memory of Mata Harbaksh Kaur Mejie at Mata Harnam Kaur Community Development Centre in Bassi Pathana.

All the expenses and medicines are provided free of cost by MBCT. Total 332 operation have been done by the trust during last two years.

This camp has been held jointly with Dr. G.S Randhawa Eye Hospital and Lasik Centre, Patiala led by Dr. G.S Randhawa and a team of Dr. Deepesh, Dr. Jatinder Kaushal, Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Dr. Upinder Kaur, MS Ophthalmology. They were assisted by three Opthalmic Officers & four technicians.

Pre-registration of patients was carried out from 8th March 2007 to 17th March 2007 and a total of 1,775 patients were registered.

On 18th March 2007, 1500 patients attended to by the doctors team from Dr. G.S Randhawa Eye Hospital & Lasik Centre Patiala, for free check up. Vision test, Blood Sugar Test and BP test were also carried out. Out of 1,500 patients, 160 were selected for cataract operation by the latest Phaco Laser Technology which cost more than Rs. 10,000/- per operation.

Doctors selected 160 patients as fit for the operation after doing their Blood Sugar Test & B.P checkup. Operations were conducted from 20th March, 2007 till 29th March 2007 at Patiala. According to the prescriptions of Doctors, medicines were also distributed to other patients free of cost.

The camp was attended by Dr. Sukhdev Singh Sidhu, former principal of Medical College Patiala, Medical College Amritsar and Former Director of Health (Punjab). He appreciated the efforts put in by Mehar Baba Charitable Trust in helping in its free medical related causes. He further appreciated the sprit of the volunteers of Bassi Pathana and the organizational skills in managing such a large camp in a smooth manner.
